Mini-Camp
International School of Choueifat - Manama
Grades: 9 - 12
October 09, 2015I do not think there is anyone that could argue that this minicamp was the best one this far. A plan that outlined two days full of activities, presentations, and food made it difficult to not attend. So what made this year’s event this special?
First, we all had to gather in the auditorium where the Head Prefect was waiting to deliver the opening speech of the event. His speech was concise and so we quickly went ahead with the first activity of the night. We were divided into five random teams and we had an hour to find supplies, design a board, present, and advertise a combination of ‘robots, flying shoes, and a skirt’. The advertisements were hilarious and received applause from everyone in attendance.
Second, it was time for our first presentation. ‘The Power of Positive Thinking’ delivered by none other than Mr. Roger Soweid had an almost instantaneous impact on the prefects. As the name itself suggests, the aim was to make students attitudes positively charged permanently. He wanted to give the students the building blocks they needed to begin their journey.
The following day, we started off with a presentation that was constructed by Ali AlQahtani and Sara AlMosawi. The title of their presentation was ‘Towards a Better You’; the presentation was inspired by the SLC of ISC- Choueifat, Ms. Zeina Abou Zelof. In within the presentation were several different video clips, activities, and critical thinking questions. It was an emotional presentation that touched many hearts that same day.
We later on had a fun break as we were once again divided into different teams; this time, however, we played Limbo! After limbo, we sat back down in our seats to experience ‘The Energy Bus’, based on the book of the same name. We buckled up, and everyone went for a ride in their own individual bus; we learned that we are the drivers of our own bus; and that we are in control of our own lives. We make the choices we make because we know yourselves the best!
Possibly the main highlight of our camp was the scavenger hunt in the Lagoon. It took us approximately 15 minutes to walk to the Lagoon, with the help of Amwaj Security, we were all able to get there safely and in time for lunch at Mooyah! At 2 P.M. sharp, the teams of cars, actors, singers, Disney characters, animals, occupations, and countries headed out with their first clue for the hunt. The hunt lasted for about 2 hours.
Nannies Appreciation Day
AbdulAziz International School
Grades: 8-12
October 17, 2015To appreciate, be grateful, and give back to those who work so hard every day to maintain the school’s cleanliness, the Student Life Organization decided to recognize all the school nannies with a show of gratitude.
Traditional Ethiopian dress, dance, food and music filled the air as everyone embraced the joyous time. Flowers were handed out along with a gifts and plenty of hugs.
