E-Cycling Club
SABIS® International School - Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE
January 29, 2025To encourage students to pursue cycling as both a hobby and an activity, the SLO simulated a cycling race on stationary bikes.
Students, grouped by gender and age, rode stationary bikes linked to a digital program that simulates an online race. The simulation challenges students with tasks like shifting their path, adjusting their speed when needed, and employing cycling tactics. Each student is assigned a persona within the simulation, while their speed and position are displayed on a screen. Competitors must complete a set number of laps, with the fastest and most effective cyclists securing the top positions.
This type of race could evolve into a regional competition among schools, further motivating students to practice cycling.
As a tenth grader in SABIS Yas Island, I found this activity really engaging and effective. I was able to do a sport with my friends and I really enjoyed racing them. The bike was suitable for our ages and its controls were customizable which made it better since I already knew how to cycle from before! Overall it was a really nice activity and I hope to do it again! (Amanda Maroun, Grade 10)
