Spelling Bee Club

In order to train and select the best students to represent the school in the Spelling Bee at the SABIS^® STARS, the prefects decided to start up a Spelling Bee Club. Seventy students from grades five and six competed for a chance to be one of Sharjah's SABIS^® STARS Spelling Bee representatives.

The qualifying event started on the morning of Saturday, October 3^rd 2015, when all competitors gathered in one school hall. Each competitor was given a random word to say, spell out, then say again, as per the general rules of Spelling Bee. After two complex rounds, the top twenty-four students were chosen. With the help of their designated mentors, the students will attend the SABIS^® STARS Spelling Bee Competition in March 2016.

Reading Campaign

International School of Choueifat - Al Ain

To promote reading, vocabulary and comprehension, grade 1 students were split into four groups with one Gr 8 prefect to each group. The prefect then read one story to the group they had. One student from each group was asked by the AQC to explain and discuss their story to the group. This gave them the opportunity to read, learn and retell the stories.

Grade 2 students were offered a large selection of books to choose from, and encouraged to bring their own stories if they preferred to do so. Students read their stories for about ten minutes with a teacher supervising them .and then a few students from each section were chosen to summarize their story and relate it to everyone else.
