Report Card Distribution

International School of Choueifat - Amman

Grades 8 - 11

December 06, 2014

Handing out report cards at the end of the term sounds easy. But when it involves nearly one thousand of them, things become significantly more challenging, and that’s why SLO® Prefects stepped in to help. Before a parent can receive their child’s report card, they need to get their own “Parent Number” from a list of hundreds of other Parent Numbers.

Although it was a Saturday, tens of Management prefects signed up for the task of helping parents get their “Parent Number”, and then, handing them the report cards. Thanks to using modern technology (iPads and Laptops) to find the Parent Number rather than going through the long printed list, the whole process did not take more than three minutes. It was amazing to watch how prefects at such a young age could handle tens and tens of parents that would show up at the same time.

Shadow Teachers for Lower School

International School of Choueifat - Amman

Grades 10 - 12

December 23, 2014

Whenever Lower School Teachers are absent, SLO® Prefects are called to cover the classes of absent teachers.

They meet with the Lower School AQC and Coordinators to go over the material and activities they would teach in class, and then compare their free classes to the sessions they are needed in. Typically, two prefects are working together in each class, to go over the required material, and lighten the mood with some fun activities as well.

The feedback the SLO® Prefects receive is really great, and every staff member involved is grateful and proud of what the prefects are able to do.

Spin 4 Math

International School of Choueifat - Amman

Grades 6

December 15, 2014

Based on the famous Television show "Wheel of Fortune" the Academic Department created a thrilling and educational contest “Spin4Math”.

Four teams of three students took turn in spinning a colored wheel to determine the category of the Math Question the team will receive. The categories ranged between Mental Math, Set Theory Questions, and Solving Equations. The catch was that if the spinning team answered wrong, the wheel will also decide which team can try and answer the same question and earn its points. This rule guaranteed that all teams try solving every single question.
