In order to help students enhance their writing skills while improving their English language, a story writing club was organized.
Students wrote imaginative stories using a lot of creativity and depth, borrowing from the multitude of examples discussed during English class.
Students with the best stories were given a gift in appreciation of their efforts.
Spelling Bee

Zakho International School held a Spelling Bee for grade 3 students in front of an encouraging crowd that included students, teachers and parents.
The judges had a hard time finding enough words as the students spelled every word that was suggested to them.
Trophies were awarded to the first, second and third place winners and certificates were handed to everyone.
Mental Math

In order to encourage students to do their homework and practice mental math at home, Zakho International School organized a Mental Math competition for grade 4.
The grade 4 students proved to be very tough competitors as they breezed through the questions until 3 students were declared winners and awarded trophies. Parents in attendance were cheering both their child and other children too.
This was a great way to reinforce the knowledge learned in class and motivate students to continue studying at home.
Spelling Bee

After many weeks of arduous preparation for our young students, spelling bee for AY 2104-15 was held from Nov.9th to Nov.18th.
An initial warm-up round was conducted to give the competitors a chance to familiarize themselves with the working of the Spelling Bee. Students were tested on words taken from the vocabulary of their respective grades and they were amazing. Knockout rounds were held until only three contestants remained from each grade. These students competed in a final round leading to a winner from each grade.
