Tree Planting and Cleaning

International School of Choueifat - Dream City

Grade 3

May 02, 2015

The SLO® launched a Tree Planting and Cleaning Campaign on Saturday May 2, 2015. The project was supported by the Erbil governor Mr. Nawzad Hadi. The aim of this project is to instill awareness amongst students regarding the importance of keeping the environment clean and green.

The students were transported by school busses to ISC- Erbil to plant trees and to learn how to keep the environment green and clean. Students were given plastic bags and gloves to clean the environment around the school. After cleaning up, each student was given one tree to plant and they listened to a talk about keeping the environment clean and green in future.

Earth Day

Internationale Schule Frankfurt

Grades: K - 12

April 22, 2015

Each year on April 22, ISF celebrates Earth Day.  This year was no exception.  The Social Responsibility Department hosted all grade levels during their lunch hour and had different activities for all.  Students from Kindergarten to grade 2 were given colour wheels and were asked to go out on the playground to find natural items matching those colours.

Students from grades 3 through 12 were invited to illustrate how human activities are affecting the earth and what we can do to prevent further destruction or help with regeneration.  This was an initiative of the Climate Change Conference and we are looking to submit our flag to the conference in Paris, France.

The rest of the school was asked to make an “Earth Day Pledge”, which was a sort of promise to the Earth to treat it better.  Students wrote this on a leaf and then we added the leaves to the branches of a tree.  This will be kept in the foyer so that students can be reminded of their pledges.

Honoring Teachers

International School of Choueifat - Amman

May 31, 2015

In order to honor the teachers who dedicated their school year to their students, the SLO® prefects prepared, practiced, and took photos of teachers in classrooms to create a simple, yet special way to thank them for all their efforts and hard work.

As the teachers made their way to the school theater where they were invited, SLO® Outreach prefects as well as students lined up along the way to cheer them and greet them as they walked in making them feel like celebrities. As teachers took their seats, the Head Prefect delivered an inspirational speech thanking all teachers for their contrbution to the wellfare of the students. A choir formed by students from grades 4 to 6 sang to their teachers while their photos lit up the screen.

As the ceremony drew to a close, tears were shed, memories were shared as both students and teachers expressed their gratitude toward each other.
