Report Card Distribution

December 06, 2014Handing out report cards at the end of the term sounds easy. But when it involves nearly one thousand of them, things become significantly more challenging, and that’s why SLO® Prefects stepped in to help. Before a parent can receive their child’s report card, they need to get their own “Parent Number” from a list of hundreds of other Parent Numbers.
Although it was a Saturday, tens of Management prefects signed up for the task of helping parents get their “Parent Number”, and then, handing them the report cards. Thanks to using modern technology (iPads and Laptops) to find the Parent Number rather than going through the long printed list, the whole process did not take more than three minutes. It was amazing to watch how prefects at such a young age could handle tens and tens of parents that would show up at the same time.
Mini-Camp

On Saturday September 05, 2015, the SLO® organized this year’s first Mini Camp. It was organized to impart qualities like leadership and teambuilding among our students. These are necessary to succeed not only in school, but in life as well. The most proactive students from grades 9 to 12 were invited to attend the camp, with the total number of attendees reaching over 80 students.
The day started with an introduction from the SLC, Mr. Abdullah, and an ice breaking activity. After a short break, the students reconvened in the library hall and the Director, Ms. Margo Abdel Aziz gave an inspirational speech on the prerequisites of leadership. Her speech was followed by the Heads Ceremony, where a brand new set of leaders was chosen for leadership positions in the SLO®. Our newly-appointed Head Boy Rehan Hafeez along with Rabia Akber delivered a wonderful take on perspective and adapting to the ever changing challenges. Throughout the day the students participated in creative activities. The day was rounded up by Osman Khan, head of Management Department and Iqraa Bukhari with their presentation called “The Energy Bus”. After a fun day filled with learning, activities and lunch, the young leaders went home to brainstorm for new ideas for the SLO®.

In order to make their school a beautiful one and ensure that all students are proud of belonging to it, the Management prefects took action and helped by coloring the flower pots and stones. They also helped in painting the school benches.

September 10, 2015On September 10th the students excitedly stood side by side; one by one they were called to receive the letter that they had all been waiting for; their one way ticket into leadership. Sarah Lilly, a previous deputy head, took pride in taking a day off her university's busy schedule to announce the SLO® prefects of 2015-2016. Mr. Abdullbaki also joined in this heartfelt ceremony to present the awards to the prefects while beautiful pictures were taken.
Of course, it was no surprise when Rachel Shehayeb was called out as 2015-16’s Head Prefect; she truly deserved it! To summarize this magnificent ceremony, all the prefects aligned as one and chanted the SLO® vows, assuring the school of a pleasant year. As it all came to an end, a group picture was taken of all the prefects.
