Shadow Teacher Day

November 08, 2017Wednesday, Nov 8, 2017 was a designated Shadow Teacher Day at the International School of Choueifat - Al Ain .
It was organized to develop the dynamic learning and teaching skills aof students and ensure we develop high quality Shadow Teachers. It is not veryeasy to become a Shadow Teacher as a student has to muster enough courage to stand in front of the class and teach. It is that experience that will ultimately help them succeed no matter what.
That day, Shadow Teachers taught for 25 minutes. Teachers evaluated their Shadow Teachers and they were given feedback after the lesson.
World Diabetes Day

November 14, 2017To publicize and bring awareness to diabetes and the importance of our diet, the Sports & Health Department organized the World Diabetes Day.
Students were organized in a circle and were handed blue papers to hold in order to imitate the emblem of Diabetes. A competition was held to test students and teach them about diabetes and preventative measures they should be aware of. This competition involved six teams, eighteen questions and three rounds in total. To end it all, prizes were given to the winners.

Shadow Teaching Training

October 02, 2017On Monday, October 2nd, 2017, Prefects from the Academic department organized a tutoring session for the newly selected shadow teachers from grades 1 till 11. The training, which was conducted by the Shadow Teachers TM Senior Prefects and Academic Head Prefect, helped the students understand methods of presenting material to others by focusing on four important areas: preparation, modeling, leadership, and commitment. During the session, the Shadow Teachers TM learned how to present a lesson using the SABIS® Point System®. The Shadow Teachers™ were then given the chance to practice and get feedback from the SLO® Prefects and their peers.

November 19, 2017To counter the stress the exams usually generate, the SLO® hosted “The Happy Week” with colorful flowers distributed all around. Students' grins and giggles echoed throughout the school. To cheer up the students even more, SLO® prefects provided motivational quotes. Smiley faces were handed out to teachers,reinforcing the sense of happiness, positivity and unity among all the staff.
