The SLO® facilitated a mascot drawing contest. The team received more than 15 unique and original lion drawings. Of the 15, five were selected as finalists. Both students and staff voted to select their mascot and it was a very close call. There is a lot of talent at the school and all students felt proud to have been involved in selecting their own mascot.
Holidays Fundraiser
International Academy of Saginaw
December 12, 2014In an attempt to raise awareness for Social Responsibility efforts around the world, the International Academy of Saginaw SLO® Social Responsibility Department partnered with a relief organization for the Holidays Fundraiser. Students could pay $2 to have a Dress Down Day each of the 3 Thursday's throughout December.
Throughout each week of December the Management Team would make an announcement reminding everyone to participate toward this worthy cause. The International Academy of Saginaw was able to raise over $500 which will provide two families of 4 with a weekly food parcel for an ENTIRE year and one additional family a parcel of food each week for 6 months. A generous donor matched the school's donation which brought the total amount to over $1,000!
Bullying Prevention Workshop

November 21, 2014On Friday, November 21st, twelve prefects traveled to Boston to take part in the Stand Up to Bullying Conference; a bullying prevention workshop. Prefects gathered together for a roundtable discussion regarding the presence of bullying within their school. The students discussed the effectiveness of the bullying prevention initiatives and outlined areas of improvement and ways to further prevent bullying while encouraging a more positive behavior. Some ideas include revamping “bullying” boxes, creating poster contests, distributing gold slips, etc.
