The Carnival
The International School of Choueifat - Sulaimani, Iraq
October 03, 2026The Third Annual Open House, or as the school fondly calls it, the Carnival, brought the entire school community together for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Welcoming both SABIS and non-SABIS families, the school stadium was transformed into a lively gathering filled with music, performances, games, and, most importantly, FOOD! From delicious meals and tempting treats to accessories and other unique finds, the variety of stalls ensured there was something for everyone to enjoy. The excitement did not stop there, as games and competitions added a little friendly rivalry to the evening, with event sponsors generously offering prizes to participants. The Carnival also showcased the talents of the school's students through instrumental performances, gymnastics, choir presentations, and traditional Kurdish dancing. Meanwhile, the SLO brought even more energy to the festivities with lively dance activities that had students and families joining in, laughing, and enjoying the moment together.
Beyond the food, entertainment, and friendly competition, the Carnival offered students a chance to step away from their academic routines, spend time with friends, and connect with the wider school community in a more relaxed setting. With its lively atmosphere, countless activities, and something for everyone to enjoy, the Third Annual Carnival was truly a night to remember!
During the setup days prior to our carnival, the weather looked absolutely terrible and presented a severe challenge to everyone involved. Despite these difficult conditions, the school team showed incredible resilience and dedication to making sure the event went ahead. The worked through the setup process seamlessly, and thanks to their relentless hard work, the carnival was a massive success. Student
