Cancer Awareness Campaign
The International School of Choueifat - Sharjah, UAE
October 01, 2025The Student Life Organization (SLO) conducted a two‑week Cancer Awareness Campaign to promote informed understanding, empathy, and responsible health awareness within the school community. The campaign was intentionally divided into two phases: the first week focused specifically on Breast Cancer Awareness, while the second week addressed general cancer awareness, ensuring a comprehensive and age‑appropriate educational experience.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Week, students participated in a school-wide parade and a symbolic run to express solidarity with individuals affected by cancer. They also wrote heartfelt letters to cancer patients, fostering empathy and personal connection. As part of the educational component, a surgeon visited the school to deliver an informative session on breast cancer detection and prevention. The presentation emphasized early warning signs, self‑examination techniques, and the importance of regular screenings. To reinforce the message, brochures containing essential breast cancer information were distributed to all staff members.
The second week broadened the focus to general cancer awareness, underscoring the importance of early detection, community support, and compassionate dialogue around serious health issues. Age‑appropriate materials and guided discussions ensured that students engaged with the topic in a thoughtful, sensitive, and respectful manner.
This extended campaign aligned with the school’s wider wellbeing and health education goals by encouraging students to approach sensitive subjects with maturity, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility. Student engagement throughout the two weeks reflected their commitment to the initiative’s purpose and values.
Through this comprehensive campaign, SLO reinforced its commitment to delivering meaningful awareness programs that extend beyond the classroom and contribute to students’ holistic development.
